The IAB professional qualifications enable you to attain the status of using the title ‘Registered Book-Keeper’. The IAB Courses are 'Single Unit, Stand Alone' qualifications so you do not HAVE to do all three Levels to fully qualify. For example, if you have previous experience/qualifications in Book-Keeping & Accounts you could go straight to the Level 2 Certificate or the Level 3 Certificate Course.
IAB Courses are fully accredited by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). What is the QCF?
It's the new framework for creating and accrediting qualifications.
It gives a wider range of learners the opportunity to get the qualifications they need, in a way that suits them. QCF qualifications are designed with the help of employers so learners can be assured that they're gaining skills that employers are looking for.
The QCF:
• recognises smaller steps of learning and enables learners to build up qualifications bit by bit
• helps learners achieve skills and qualifications that meet industry needs
• enables training to be nationally recognised.
The IAB was one of the first Awarding Organisations to obtain the crucial QCF recognition status. The IAB has developed 'competence' qualifications which recognise the knowledge and skills required either by employers or for setting up your own Book-Keeping services business.
How does the QCF work?
Every unit and qualification in the new framework has a credit value. There are different sizes of qualification as follows:
• IAB Level 1 Award in Book-Keeping (9 credits)
• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-Keeping (16 credits)
• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-Keeping (28 credits)
Under QCF, Qualifications consist of units which are known as ‘shared’ because any other QCF recognised Awarding Organisation can use them. Therefore if a candidate has successfully completed a unit which belongs to a different qualification they will be able to transfer this credit and therefore not have to repeat the unit.
On enrolling for our IAB Courses you are issued with a Unique Learner Number.
A Unique Learner Number (ULN) is a 10-digit identifier which is applied to your Personal Learner Record. It has been designed to ensure that no additional meaning can be inferred from its structure, e.g. geographical location, level of learning, etc. Its purpose is purely to provide a unique identifier for each individual’s Personal Learner Record and it is a vital component of the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF). It allows the individual to transfer credit obtained within this framework and build their own Personal Learner Record. A key aim of the Personal Learner Record is to improve the flow of information about
Learners to other training providers and ultimately employers, leading to more effective data sharing and better decision making. Learners will need to use their number each time they want to see or confirm the details held about them on their Personal Learner Record.
IAB Membership:
The IAB qualifications are accredited by the UK regulator of qualifications and exams.This provides total assurance of standards, quality and recognition. The quality and integrity of IAB qualifications is therefore assured though this ‘Recognition' status.
The IAB professional qualifications enable you to attain the status of using the title ‘Registered Book-keeper’.
On passing the IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-Keeping you can apply for Associate Membership – this entitles the use of the designatory letters AIAB after your name. (No practical experience is required for this level of membership)
On passing the IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-Keeping you can apply for Membership – this entitles the use of the designatory letters MIAB after your name. (No practical experience is required for this level of membership)
